The Pyramid of Ptahemwia is a relatively recent archaeological discovery in Egypt, having been found in October 2021. Ptahemwia was a high-ranking government official during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II, who ruled during the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom, approximately between 1279 and 1213 BCE. Ptahemwia held a position of great influence, being the “Chief of the Treasuries of Ramses II” and responsible for the finances and tributes of the Egyptian state.

Ptahemwia’s tomb was found in Saqqara, a vast necropolis that served as a burial site for the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis. The Pyramid of Ptahemwia is notable for its architecture and the wealth of information it provides about the period of Ramses II, one of the most prolific and powerful pharaohs of Egypt.
