Grasshoppers are insects belonging to the order Orthoptera and the suborder Caelifera, known for their long hind legs adapted for jumping and their ability to form large swarms that can devastate crops. There are approximately 11,000 species of grasshoppers, found worldwide, primarily in tropical and temperate regions.
