Female Reproductive System

The female reproductive system includes the ovaries, which produce eggs and sex hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. During the menstrual cycle, an egg is released from an ovary and captured by the fallopian tube, where it may be fertilized by a sperm cell. The fertilized egg, or zygote, then travels to the uterus, where it implants into the uterine wall and develops into an embryo. The uterus, vagina, and mammary glands are also part of the female reproductive system, playing vital roles in pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding.
