Christ the Redeemer is one of the most iconic and recognizable statues in the world, located atop Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Inaugurated on October 12, 1931, the monument represents Jesus Christ with open arms, symbolizing peace, welcome, and blessing. Designed by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa and sculpted by French artist Paul Landowski, Christ the Redeemer holds significant religious and cultural importance.
The statue stands 30 meters tall, with an 8-meter pedestal, for a total height of 38 meters. Made of reinforced concrete and clad with small soapstone tiles, the structure was built in parts in France and later assembled in Brazil. Christ the Redeemer is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World and is a symbol not only of Rio de Janeiro but of Brazil as a whole. The monument attracts millions of tourists annually, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the city, including Guanabara Bay
